Making One Blog out of Two

Presently, I have two blogs that are related even if that is a bit vague.  I'll briefly explain. This blog, Poured Painting Studio, is all about my "adventures" experimenting with poured painting and my other blog, "Free Spirit Art Jewelry" shows my paper jewelry. And a lot of those are made with paint skins from my poured painting, both shown below.

Here is where I'll be:

They are so closely related that from now on I'll have one blog. So, if you haven't already, please check out my one blog.

Three Tests for Great Cells!

Actually, two out of three was pretty good, considering I'm still minus my butane fuel which, hopefully, will arrive in two days.

I used Apple Barrel craft paint. Red, orange and yellow plus off-white Behr house paint. (Home Depot). Personally, I like off-white because it's less stark. I added about 25% Floetral to the Behr and about 10% to each craft paint.

I did a dirty pour to each and poured the colors in the same order. White, yellow, and red and when I flip the cup, I let it sit for a few minutes so the white will slide down.

The first, I added two drops of Vitamin E oil to each color, except the white.

Vitamin E Oil
The colors were nice, but zero cells.  The next one, shown below, had two drops of silicone, the *spray kind, added to each color, except the off-white.

Silicone
Nice cells, not exceptional, but decent. Sorry about lack of cropping the pic, but this was done on my plastic work table this morning. *Spray silicone:  I sprayed into a china cup and then used an eye dropper.

My favorite is below. I used OGX Coconut Milk Hair Serum which is mostly (not all), Dimethicone.

Dimethicone
The composition is better, the cells are more varied and I like the way the colors are distributed.

I know this is not very scientific because there are so many variants such as the settling of colors in the cup before I picked it up, or how quickly I flipped the cup, did I tilt one more than another?

See? This is what keeps us coming back. The element of surprises, good and bad or, hopefully... good and Wow!

Again, thanks for stopping by.

Dolly

Yes...I'm late with my post. No excuse.

Many of you probably have one, but as of tomorrow, I'll have one, too! What am I talking about? A butane torch!

After doing a lot of research I ordered one from Amazon. The description talked about creme brulee, etc. They are kidding, right? Mine will never see the kitchen.

Unfortunately, there is one tiny glitch, the butane fuel won't be here for another week.

I had no idea what to purchase, so I watched a lot of YouTube videos, including Rick Cheadle, Sara Fazio, Caren Goodrich, Lily's Mix, and Annemarie Ritterhof. When you have a moment, check them out. They are amazing! I'll add more names as I run across them.

This is a favorite
Poured painting info. Well, there's a lot of it and they all have their own favorite "recipes". I've tried a few, but I'm waiting so I can torch them.  I did a couple of mediocre pourings which I'm sharing with you.

and another.

While I'm waiting for my torch and fuel, I'll be in my studio, working on a painting. Not the poured type, but the one patiently waiting on my easel.

Thanks for joining me,

Soon,

Dolly

Brand new blog! Brand new post!

Welcome new readers and thanks for taking a few minutes to stop by. I'll be taking you with me on my quest for that "perfect" poured painting. The disasters will be shown along with mediocre attempts, and the occasional "Yes!" paintings.
I haven't been at this for very long, but just long enough to get "the bug", as they say.

Honestly, I think my paint clothes are quickly outnumbering my regular clothes. And manicures? Ha! truly a thing of the past.

Below is a 5" x 7" that I like.

This morning I decided it was really time to clean my studio. What a creative mess! I took a picture and that only shows one-third of my space. Probably a good thing that my studio
isn't bigger.

Note the level on the right side of the table. One less thing to think of.  Later I'll put my paint clothes on and try to create that elusive "masterpiece".
Meanwhile, thanks for stopping by
and I'll be back in a couple of days.

Best,

Dolly
